HIV Viral Suppression: Partnerships for Success

This one-hour on-line training will describe how HIV treatment adherence and retention in care are strongly linked with achieving viral suppression and improved health outcomes for people with HIV. However, New York State data show that less than 40% of people living with HIV are taking advantage of the full benefits of HIV treatment. This training describes how non-physician health and human services providers can play a role in linking clients to HIV care, promoting client retention in care and supporting HIV treatment adherence.
By the end of this Online-Training, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how HIV treatment adherence and retention in care contribute to viral suppression and improved health outcomes for people with HIV
  • Recall at least three ways that non-physician health and human services providers can help people with HIV achieve viral suppression
  • Recall the National HIV/AIDS Strategy and NYS goals for improving participation in HIV care
  • Explain how early access to care and HIV treatment adherence can help reduce the spread of HIV.

Audio/Visual Requirements: This training has audio narration. Please make sure to turn on your speakers. For best viewing, use Internet Explorer 9, Firefox, or Google Chrome browsers.

Prerequisite: It is strongly recommended that participants have previous knowledge or training on basic HIV/AIDS information.

Audience: All non-physician health and human services providers who work directly with people living with HIV including: case managers, counselors, nurses, support services providers and others.
