Toxoplasmosis
Toxoplasmosis is a disease caused by the parasite Toxoplasma gondii. People often get this infection by eating undercooked or contaminated meat or shellfish or unwashed contaminated fresh produce. While most people with toxoplasmosis experience no symptoms, some may develop flu-like symptoms. Toxoplasmosis can be serious for people who are immunocompromised (have a weakened immune system) or pregnant people, posing risks such as health complications for them and their newborn babies.
