You Matter. Your Mental Health Matters

It's normal to have tough days, and it's okay to not always feel okay. Whether you're dealing with stress, school pressure, or just the ups and downs of life, your mental health deserves attention and care. You don't have to go through it alone. You have the power to take control of your well-being—and there are people ready to help you every step of the way.

Your School-Based Health Center Is Here for You

Your school-based health center (SBHC), or what you might know as your school clinic or doctor's office, isn't just for when you're feeling sick. It's also a safe and private place where you can talk to someone if you're feeling stressed, anxious, or going through something tough. It's a judgment-free zone, with caring adults you can trust—people who are here to support you and want to see you be your best.

It's okay to ask for help. That's what they're there for. Here's how they can support you:

  • Talk through what's on your mind with a counselor (mental health provider) who listens.
  • Get support for emotional challenges like stress, anxiety, or sadness.
  • Learn skills to cope with life's pressures, big or small.
  • Feel better about taking control of your mental and physical health.

What you talk about is kept private. The people who work there have to follow rules about what they can and can't share. They'll explain what stays between you and them, and what might need to be shared with a parent or guardian—so you'll always know what to expect.

If you'd rather talk to someone outside of school, your SBHC can also help connect you to a counselor or mental health provider in the community.

Taking the step to talk to someone might feel scary but remember: your mental health is just as important as any other part of you.
