The purpose of this General Information System (GIS) message is to inform local departments of social services (LDSS) that the Office of Health Insurance Programs (OHIP) will begin phasing out the Electronic Eligibility Decision Support System (EEDSS).
The volume of applications being processed by EEDSS has decreased significantly since the elimination of the face-to-face interview. This, coupled with the staff resources required to continue to support EEDSS, has resulted in the decision to phase out EEDSS. The timeline for phasing out EEDSS is as follows:
- July 1, 2010: The last day that new activity can be initiated in EEDSS for upstate districts. The last day that new activity could have been initiated in EEDSS in New York City was June 14, 2010.
- July 16, 2010: A report of any open activity or incomplete applications in EEDSS will be produced for districts for appropriate action.
- July 31, 2010: The last day that EEDSS will be available.
