New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH)
The NYSDOH gathers and records Syndromic Surveillance data. This registry is available to Eligible Professionals* (EPs) and Eligible Hospitals (EHs) outside the five boroughs of NYC.
*The registry did not begin accepting data from EPs until Meaningful Use Stage 3, in 2017.
Type of Information Collected
Eligible Professionals
2011-2016: The NYSDOH did not collect data from EPs prior to 2017.
2017-present: The NYSDOH collects chief complaint data from EPs in licensed Urgent Care Centers only, which will be grouped into the syndromes listed below for EHs.
Eligible Hospitals
The NYSDOH collects syndromic surveillance data from EHs, which includes the following syndromes: asthma, carbon monoxide, drug overdose, fever, gastrointestinal infection, heatwave, heroin overdose, hypothermia, neurological, rash, respiratory, and synthetic drugs.
