Statement From the Northeast Public Health Collaborative Reaffirms Support for Respiratory Vaccines and Applauds Digital Resource Hub for Patients and Health Care Providers

The New York State Department of Health is Sending the Following on Behalf of the Northeast Public Health Collaborative

ALBANY, N.Y. (September 9, 2026) - The Northeast Public Health Collaborative (NEPHC) applauds and supports the work conducted by the American Medical Association (AMA) to ensure access to evidence-based recommendations for the respiratory virus season. The Collaborative also endorses the 2026-2027 respiratory vaccination recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and the Infectious Diseases Society of American (IDSA).

The AMA and Vaccine Integrity Project (VIP) utilized independent, evidence-based reviews on vaccination against influenza, COVID-19, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) to inform clinical decision-making. Amid federal gaps in immunization guidance, the NEPHC aligns with the associations in countering vaccine misinformation and ensuring medical decision-making is grounded in science.

Patients and physicians can access the medical associations' recommendations for the respiratory virus season at a new digital resource hub – SpreadTheFacts.org – developed by the American Medical Association (AMA) in collaboration with the Vaccine Integrity Project (VIP). This resource provides scientific, evidence-based information to support parent and family choice.

The Northeast Public Health Collaborative is a voluntary coalition of public health agencies working together to share expertise, improve coordination, enhance capacity, strengthen regional readiness and protect evidence-based public health in our jurisdictions.
