Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care
What is Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care?
Protecting, promoting and supporting breastfeeding is an important part of public health. The Department's Child and Adult Care Food Program encourages child care centers and family day care homes to support breastfeeding families and recognizes these providers with a Breastfeeding Friendly designation.
Why should I look for child care that is designated as breastfeeding friendly?
- You will be welcome to breastfeed your child in a designated center or home.
- You will receive care from staff who are trained to provide information and support to help you continue to breastfeed when you return to work or school.
- You will receive accurate information about breastfeeding.
