New York State Certified Tobacco Sales Training Program
About Tobacco Sales Training
The Tobacco Sales Training Program offers guidance and training to tobacco and vapor product retailers and their staff. The training focuses on the State tobacco and vapor product sales law (Public Health Law Article 13-F) and how to responsibly follow the law. The program was created to help ensure that tobacco and vapor product retailers and their staff are knowledgeable about the State law and able to comply with it.
A list of certified training providers is included below with their contact information. Section 1399-ee of the Public Health Law allows tobacco and vapor product retailers a reduced penalty for a sale-to-minor violation if the clerk who made the sale previously attended a State Certified Tobacco Sales Training course and holds a valid certificate of completion. Tobacco and vapor product retailers and not required by the Public Health Law to attend a training program.

The Department certifies individuals and entities to deliver the New York State Tobacco Sales Training Program.You must complete an application and demonstrate the training program meets the minimum curriculum requirements to become certified.
