August 31, 2025 is International Overdose Awareness Day
The world's largest annual campaign to end overdose and stigma. Each year, New York State Commemorates August 31 by lighting up the state landmarks and bridges in purple to show support and unification around ending drug overdose and stigma.

The social media toolkit has a selection of social media graphics, pre-written text, graphic for email signatures, webinar background graphic, including the Department of Health's sponsored New York State Overdose Awareness Day virtual event on September 10, 2025 and more for anyone to use and post.
