Other NYS Initiatives
New Initiative
The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) Bureau of HIV Prevention and Control is pleased to announce the Free Condom Initiative.
HIV/AIDS prevention and care are among our most critical public health priorities. Condoms prevent the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and also prevent unwanted pregnancies.
Beginning immediately, organizations can order free condoms and lubricant for distribution in New York City. Orders can be placed online at the following address: http://www.nyc.gov/health/condoms
Training offered by the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS)
OASAS is committed to revitalizing efforts to promote professionalism in the field of addictions and to implement policies that would counteract the disturbing trend in the declining number of qualified workers in New York State's addictions field. OASAS is responsible not only with managing the State's credentialing process for counselors and prevention practitioners and for developing and conducting training programs for addiction professionals, but also for identifying and implementing workforce strategies which would help make the addictions field a more attractive and viable career option for entry level professionals.
More information on OASAS training opportunities can be found at www.oasas.ny.gov.
