Medicaid Managed Care for People with HIV and AIDS
While most people with Medicaid coverage must currently access Medicaid benefits through managed care plans, Medicaid beneficiaries with HIV/AIDS have had the option to enroll in a managed care plan or stay in regular fee-for-service
Medicaid.
Beginning in October 1, 2011, most HIV+ Medicaid recipients in New York State will be required to join a Medicaid managed care plan. Individuals may request to stay in regular Medicaid if they qualify for another exemption. This change is only for residents of mandatory counties.
