Tuberculosis Information for Local Health Departments (LHDs)
Local health departments (LHDs) are responsible for providing or securing tuberculosis services, as well as carrying out tuberculosis control mandates included in New York State Public Health Law. Primary among these are the prompt reporting and appropriate management of TB disease suspects, cases, and contacts while also working in collaboration with the Bureau of Tuberculosis Control to meet the TB prevention and control objectives for New York State.
