1. Am I eligible for WIC?

2. What should I bring to my WIC appointment?

- Proof of income (like a pay stub, Medicaid card, or SNAP notice)

3. Where can I use my WIC benefits?
You can use your WIC benefits at authorized grocery stores, farmers' markets, and pharmacies across New York State. Look for the "WIC Accepted Here" sign or find a WIC store near you.
4. What foods can I buy with WIC?
WIC helps you buy healthy foods like:
- Milk, cheese, yogurt
- Fresh, frozen, or canned fruits and vegetables
- Whole grains (bread, tortillas, brown rice, cereal)
- Peanut butter, beans, tofu
- Baby food and infant formula

5. How can I get a breast pump through WIC?
WIC offers breast pumps for those who qualify! If you are returning to work, school, or have special pumping needs, talk to your WIC office. They will help you find the right option. Contact your WIC office to ask about getting a breast pump.
6. How do I get help with the WIC2Go app?
The WIC2Go app helps you check your benefits, find stores, and keep track of appointments. If you're having trouble:

7. How do I check my WIC benefits balance?
You can check your WIC benefits:
- On the WIC2Go app
- On your last store receipt
- By calling the number on the back of your WIC card
- By asking your local WIC office
8. How do I replace a lost, stolen, or damaged WIC card?
If your WIC card is lost, stolen, or not working, contact your WIC office right away. They can freeze your old card and issue you a new one to keep your benefits safe. Find your local WIC office here.

How the Federal Shutdown Affects WIC in New York State

1. Can I use my WIC Food benefits during the federal shutdown?
Yes. WIC approved stores are expected to continue to accept WIC benefits during the federal shutdown. For a complete list of WIC approved stores, visit New York State WIC Vendors, OR go to the WIC2Go app, click “Stores” and enter your address or zip code.
2. If my WIC benefits are expiring, can I reapply during the federal shutdown?
Yes. WIC sites are expected to remain open during the federal shutdown. Contact your local agency for an in-person or virtual appointment or contact your preferred office.

3. If I am not currently participating in WIC, but I believe I may be eligible, can I apply for WIC during the federal shutdown?
Yes. WIC is expected to remain open and appointments are available in-person and virtually, by phone. If you are pregnant or have children under five, contact a local office directly or chat with Wanda, WIC’s virtual assistant, to check your eligibility and get referred to a WIC office near you. 4. Do I have to continue to meet all WIC requirements during the shutdown?
Yes. You are still required to recertify, attend appointments, and report changes and respond to requests from your local WIC program as usual.
