| How long do I have to complete this inspection? |
The inspection must take place within 90 days of approval of the component one portion of your application. |
| How will I know if I passed the inspection? |
The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) will reach out to you directly to provide inspection results. In most cases, medical respite programs (MRPs) that "fail" an inspection will have the opportunity to implement a corrective action plan (CAP) and receive a follow-up inspection. |
| How will the inspection be conducted? |
PCG will reach out to you by phone and email to schedule a date and time for the inspection, which will take place in person at the medical respite program (MRP). A tour of the entire MRP facility will be required. |
| How long will the inspection take? |
Approximately 2-3 hours |
| Who will conduct the inspection? |
Public Consulting Group (PCG) is an independent company contracted by NYSDOH to conduct MRP site inspections. |
| Who should be present during the inspection? |
The MRP administrator or another authorized representative must be present for the inspection. This representative will be required to show a government-issued form of identification. |
| What will the inspection cover? |
The inspection will verify:
- Physical site characteristics described in the component one portion of your application
- Presence of fire safety features
- Functionality of medication cold storage unit(s)
- Facility maintenance and habitability
- Staff knowledge of program policies/procedures
|
| What documents will I need to have available during the inspection? |
The inspector may request to see documentation related to:
- MRP population (e.g., daily censuses, sign-in logs)
- MRP staff (e.g., work schedules, training certificates)
- Emergency preparedness and evacuation
- Reasonable accommodations
- Building inspections and maintenance
- Food service
|
| Can I have a copy of the inspection questions? |
NYSDOH will provide a copy of the completed inspection report (including all inspection questions) for the MRP's records. |
| What is the policy if I have to cancel my inspection? |
If you cancel your inspection, PCG will notify NYSDOH of the incomplete inspection, and this could result in denial of your certification. |
| What is the policy if I have to reschedule my inspection? |
Please alert PCG of any need to reschedule. It is at NYSDOH's discretion to determine if you are able to reschedule your inspection as this could cause a delay in your certification. |
