Development Process of the Prevention Agenda for 2019-2024
The New York State Public Health and Health Planning Council's Ad Hoc Committee to Lead the Prevention Agenda has completed the process for updating the Prevention Agenda for the next six years. At its December 13, 2018 meeting, the New York State Public Health and Health Planning Council approved the Prevention Agenda 2019-2024. The final plan is available here.
Ad Hoc Committee Process
The Committee met three times in 2018 to update the Prevention Agenda. It agreed to revising the vision and committed to maintaining the five current priorities. At its February 15, 2018 meeting, the Committee reviewed a summary of the New York State Health Assessment 2018, discussed progress to date and continuing challenges on local action to address Prevention Agenda priorities, learned about the important efforts the New York State Department of Health's Office of Health Insurance Programs is making to address the social determinants of health, and reviewed proposed focus areas and goals for the updated Prevention Agenda. This information was summarized in a slide set and used to obtain stakeholder feedback.
At its May 16, 2018 meeting, members reviewed the stakeholder feedback received from over 225 individuals and organizations, discussed how to finalize the priorities, focus areas and goals, and learned about the procedures for developing the priority specific plans.
At its September 26, 2018 meeting, the Ad Hoc Committee reviewed the proposed priority specific action plans and provided feedback that was incorporated in the final version reviewed and approved by the full Public Health and Health Planning Council on December 13, 2018.
