Injuries of Undetermined Intent in New York State
The rate, per 100,000 New York residents, of deaths due to injuries of undetermined intent, increased from a low of 0.9 in 1995 and 1998, to a high of 2.0 deaths in 2005, 2006 and 2011. In 2012, the rate of death was 1.9.
The rate of hospitalizations due to injuries of undetermined intent has steadily increased from a low of 11.0 in 1998 and 1999, to a high of 30.6 hospitalizations per 100,000 New Yorkers in 2012.
Emergency department visit data has only been collected since 2005. The rate of outpatient emergency department visits due to injuries of undetermined intent increased from 47.1 in 2005, to a high of 90.5 visits in 2010. In 2012, the rate was 72.2.
