Environmental Modifications (EMods), Vehicle Modifications (VMods), Adaptive and Assistive Technology (AAT), and Non-Emergency Medical Transportation

Recent Updates

Effective March 1, 2024: Review, approval, and payment of all NEW EMods, VMods, and AAT requests and application for children/youth in Fee-for-Service (FFS) Medicaid will be processed by the New York State Department of Health's Fiscal Management Services (FMS) provider. The Local District of Social Services (LDSS) will not be responsible for review, process, and payment of EMods, VMods, and AAT that are requested on or after March 1, 2024. The LDSS will be responsible for the continued oversight and provision of any projects initiated and funded prior to March 1, 2024, to completion, unless specifically transitioned to FMS.

Effective July 1, 2024: For Medicaid Managed Care Plans (MMCPs), all new EMod, VMod, and AAT member requests received on or after July 1, 2024, should be submitted and directed to the Financial Management Services (FMS). EMod, VMod, and AAT requests already in process with MMCPs will be retained by the MMCPs to completion.
